Save time and money by tackling simple legal problems, using our wide range of DIY kits, books, forms and software.

Please note, however, that we can only offer general guidance and information on the law. We cannot provide personal legal advice.

If you require professional advice, our Find a Lawyer service can help you find a qualified solicitor in your local area.

Select a solicitor either:

By location - find a local lawyer, or

By speciality - find a lawyer who specialises, for example in property disputes, or divorce.

Save money by being prepared

Before consulting a lawyer, ensure all the relevant facts and documents are in order.

Collect everything together and bring all paperwork to the first meeting.

The more facts and relevant information you can give a solicitor, the quicker and better he can help you.

A lawyer's time can be expensive, so adequate preparation is essential to minimising legal costs.

Do you need a lawyer?

You should certainly consult a lawyer in any of these five cases:

You have a serious or urgent legal issue. Some problems can become serious if they are not tackled in good time.
You are not confident that you can solve the problem yourself.
You prefer to talk to a professional. Sometimes it's easier to share a problem.
A large sum of money or an important contract is at stake
A legal issue is not straightforward and the solution is not clear to you.

If in doubt, always seek help.

Several Lawpack products will help you understand the issues and get your information in order before you see a solicitor.
