About Lawpack
Lawpack, the UK's self-help legal publisher, was founded in 1993.
Our do-it-yourself Will Kit, the Last Will & Testament Kit, appeared in that year and quickly found a market, not only in the high street but also in superstores and supermarkets throughout the country.
From those small beginnings, Lawpack has established itself as the foremost source of legal self-help information in the UK, with our extensive range of books, kits and form packs available in numerous outlets from Tesco's to Waterstone's.
New premises
Following a buyout in 2000, the Company became entirely owned by its management and, in 2001, it moved into its present premises in London, where our offices, warehouse and parking are all in the same place. This means that we can turn orders around very quickly, with our titles being despatched within 24 hours.
Our mission
There is today, unhappily, much dissatisfaction with the performance of the legal profession. Hardly a day passes without a horror story about poor communication, poor service and high charges. Of course, that's not true of all lawyers but how do you find the good ones and avoid the duds?
Solicitors will say that they never have time but all too often it's because they are doing things which don't need their specialist training; arranging for keys to be handed over on a house sale, for instance.
'Mission' is a much misused word but here at Lawpack we really do have a cause. We want everyone with a legal problem to be able to find a solution as quickly and cheaply as possible.
If, with guidance from one of our legal self-help products, you can solve it for yourself, that's great. If you can't, at least we should be able to help you define what the issue really is and put it concisely to a professional. That saves time which means it saves you money.
Room for improvement?
We are constantly seeking to improve the products we have and expand our range. To do this, the more feedback we can get from our customers, the better.
If something isn't clear, please tell us and we'll try to make it clearer next time. If you can't find the answer you want and have a suggestion for an addition to our range, we'll happily look at that too.
Contact Lawpack
If you're ill and cannot meet the cost of private treatment, there is a National Health Service to look after you. If you have a problem with the law, you may be just as much in need of help but few now qualify for Legal Aid and there is a limit to what voluntary organisations can do.
We believe that you shouldn't be deprived of your rights just because you can't afford a lawyer. Together we can at least ensure that you have the help you need to help yourself.
