This document should be issued to all employees at the commencement of their employment. Employees should be asked to confirm that they have read and understood the Staff Handbook.

As an employer, it is important for you to retain the ability to amend the practices and procedures in the Staff Handbook, and therefore the statement, the 'Staff Handbook, as amended from time to time, applies to all employees' should be put in the introduction. You should also refer to the Staff Handbook in the employee's contract.

Updated: Now reflects the recent UK no-smoking law changes.
