Stay in control by writing a will

Writing a will has a number of advantages, but ultimately it enables a person to stay in control even after they die and ensure their assets are divided as they would have liked.

With family circumstances becoming more complicated, taking the time to write a will helps ensure any uncertainty is eliminated, with friends and family members allocated what they deserve.

There are also emotional reasons for writing a will; knowing that loved ones will not have to worry about sorting out an estate that is unaccounted for often gives people peace of mind.

Furthermore, parents can be safe in the knowledge that their children will be cared for financially and emotionally should the worst ever happen.

Brian McMillan, director-general of the Society of Will Writers, recently emphasised that a will is not solely about wealth and that people without a high net-worth estate should consider writing one.
