'Unruly' divorce battle slammed by judge
A judge has criticised a Russian couple for dragging their "bitter and unruly" divorce through a London court.
Millionaire Ilya Golubovich, 24, and his estranged wife Elena, 26, married in 2007 and have one young daughter aged two years.
The marriage collapsed last year and Mrs Golubovich filed for divorce in London in the hopes of securing a better financial settlement.
However, her ex-husband has sought a decree nisi from a Moscow court, which was yesterday declared valid by three appeal judges.
In total, the two have racked up legal costs of more than £2 million due to delaying tactics.
Criticising the pair, Lord Justice Thorpe said: "I question whether there should not be a more stringent allocation of judicial time to cases such as this where the parties have slender connection with our jurisdiction and where the extent of their financial resources permits disproportionate demands on our family justice system."
