John Cleese tours to pay for divorce

Monty Python actor John Cleese is to tour the UK to pay for his divorce.

The comedian filed for divorce from then-third wife Alyce Faye Eichelberger in 2008.

To pay for the divorce, an end to a seven-year marriage, Cleese must go on his first ever UK tour that he has dubbed his Alimony Tour.

Cleese is 71 years old and told the Independent that Ms Eichelberger received $13 million [£9 million] while he kept $8 million.

Since then he has paid her $1 million each year.

Tickets, which went on sale last Friday (May 21st) will pay for 0.0004 per cent of Cleese's alimony settlement.

He told the newspaper: "I get angry that I have to pack my trunk just to make money. That I, at my age, would have to plan my life anew to pay her all the money she is to get for seven years - well it irritates me.

"I'd rather have been drinking coffee, reading books and writing."
