Dawn French and Lenny Henry to separate
Comedians Dawn French and Lenny Henry are to separate after 25 years of marriage, it has been announced.
The couple, who wed in 1984 after meeting three years earlier, insist their split is entirely amicable.
A spokesperson for the pair revealed the decision to go their separate ways was made last October and that they have been living together "in constant and open discussion" since that time.
French and Henry have an adopted daughter Billie, who is now 18 years old. They have both committed to future joint parenting responsibilities.
"They fully intend to maintain their close friendship," the spokesperson confirmed.
Both have enjoyed huge success in their comedy careers, with French being best known for her French and Saunders sketch show and Henry making his name fronting his own TV series the Lenny Henry Show.
News of the separation comes after singer Cheryl Cole announced her decision to divorce husband Ashley. The Girls Aloud star announced the split at the end of February.
