Greater divorce settlement sought from opera star
Svetlana Hvorostovsky, former wife of Russian baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky, is seeking a larger divorce settlement
after splitting with him ten years ago, it has been reported.
According to the Times
, the former ballet dancer wants a greater share of her ex-husband's multi-million pound fortune, having left her own career to travel with him and moved to London.
Mr Hvorostovsky, who won the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition in 1989, has performed in opera houses around the world and Ms Hvorostovsky wants to improve the terms of her divorce.
She is calling for an income of £200,000 a year plus £20,000 for each of their twin children, having originally been granted £113,000 a year, which was raised to £170,000 per annum in 2008 and claims that she had not been able to work since moving to the UK.
Three judges recently agreed to allow Elena Bowes Marano to appeal against a ruling that she should pay her ex-husband Peter Marano £5 million after he experienced financial problems in the wake of the credit crunch.
