Divorce 'leads to hair dye'
It has been claimed that women are more likely to change their hair colour after a life-changing event, such as divorce.
Psychologist Anjula Mutanda says that women reach for the hair dye after a significant event as it makes the world act differently toward them.
Ms Mutanda suggested that when Natalie Imbruglia split from her boyfriend she became a blonde, while Chantelle from Big Brother had brown hair when she was married to Preston but went back to blonde when they parted.
"So when there is a life changing event, you can change your physical identity because when you look at someone, you see hair first as it has such impact, people tend to make that drastic change." she explained.
Recent research for Andrew Collinge by Tickbox.net found that 52 per cent of men said brunettes made the best wives.
However, the same study found that 49 per cent of men think blondes make the best girlfriends, with only 21 per cent saying they prefer brunette girlfriends.
