Trust is an issue when arranging a LPA

Establishing Lasting Power of Attorney is not a decision that should be taken lightly, as the individual will be given a number of important jobs to do.

Ultimately, the person will be making choices on someone else's behalf, so it is worth selecting someone who will achieve this with best interests in mind.

The person will also make decisions that will affect other people, which is another consideration for anyone wondering who to appoint.

Any attorney is required to abide by the Code of Practice of the Mental Capacity Act 2005.

No Lasting Power of Attorney can be used until it has officially been registered with the Office of the Public Guardian, but this does not mean that professional legal advice has to be sought.

It is possible to construct a DIY Power of Attorney, providing all the details have been thoroughly checked before submitting the documents.
