Use Alzheimer's Day to get your affairs in order

As World Alzheimer's Day approaches, couples and individuals around the globe will be thinking about their future.

Figured from the Alzheimer's Society show that 750,000 people currently suffer from dementia in the UK.

By 2025, as the population ages, there is likely to be more than a million.

World Alzheimer's Day may therefore be a good time to start planning for your future, in case you or your loved ones are affected, regardless of your age.

Indeed, it is not only older people who suffer from dementia, as Alzheimer's Society statistics show that is affects 16,000 younger people as well.

Giving a relative or close friend lasting power of attorney over your health and wellbeing or your financial affairs can provide peace of mind.

If you do develop dementia in the future, the appointed person will be able to make decisions about your health and your assets on your behalf.

World Alzheimer's Day will be taking place on September 21st 2010.
