Entering rental market 'helps with finances'
by Daniel Jones
Many people are tempted to move into the private-rented market because of the financial stability it offers, an expert believes.
Alan Ward, chairman of the Residential Landlords Association (RLA), explained that investment in housing enables people to control their financial destinies.
"The risks remain the same; values can fall as well as rise, as we have seen," he warned.
Mr Ward identified London as a good place to establish tenancy agreements
as the city has strong capital growth.
The RLA has found, however, than many landlords are seeking investment opportunities that will last more than 15 years.
Latest figures from Paragon indicate that demand for tenancy agreements
in the private-rented sector has increased during the third quarter of the year.
Of the landlords questioned, 44 per cent said they had seen a rise in demand from tenants, while 34 per cent had seen their income increase.
