by Daniel Jones
Residents of London living close to the 2012 Olympic site could find their properties are in high demand in the lead up to the Games.
Under the government's Rent a Room Scheme
, up to £4,250 could be earned tax-free by renting out a spare room to those needing accommodation in the area.
A number of Daily Telegraph readers have been in contact with the paper, revealing that they have already been contacted asking if they would set up a lodger agreement
"I thought we would be too far away, but if there is enough demand, it could be worth going on holiday and cashing in," one reader living in Dulwich explained.
Both athletes and spectators alike are already likely to be in search of property to rent ahead of the Olympics, despite the tournament still being a year away.
The amount of rent money paid will depend on location and the standard of the property.
