Demand for tenancy agreements 'remains strong'
Problems in the mortgage market mean there is still strong demand for tenancy agreements
, a property expert has noted.
Many people are thinking about buying, but simply do not have the finance in place to make it happen, suggested Malcolm Harrison.
He also indicated that people enjoy the flexibility of renting: "You have got people beginning to wonder whether or not they wouldn't rather rent anyway, and not because of the costs or lack of deposit."
Mr Harrison highlighted that anyone thinking of entering the buy-to-let
market needs to do so for the right reasons, rather than because they are hoping to make a quick buck.
A recent study from unbiased.co.uk found that 3.5 million homeowners in the UK are unaware of how an increase in the base rate would affect their mortgage payments.
This is particularly the case among those on standard variable rate and tracker rate mortgages, the research showed.
