Buy-to-let 'an attractive investment'

Buy to let properties are offering investment opportunities to those who want to reap rewards in the long term, one expert has said.

Property purchased for rental needs was previously seen as a speculative investment, which is no longer the case, noted Malcolm Harrison, property industry expert.

Mr Harrison emphasised that anyone purchasing buy to let property needs to see it as an investment that will last ten years or more.

"If you are a property investor or a buy to let investor, then you know exactly what is going on as you can see in it with your own eyes," he commented.

Savills recently reported that prime London rents, across all areas, have been rising well ahead of inflation for a minimum of 18 months.

Prime London rents increased by ten per cent over the last year and were up by 1.8 per cent in the last quarter alone.
