Female buyers have property ladder aspirations

Women are keener to start going in search of their own property in the future than men, a new poll shows, which may lead to for sale boards being taken down throughout the country.

In the immediate future, 1.8 million young women between the ages of 18 and 34 are hoping to house buy, Post Office Mortgages found.

Just a fifth of men, however, are seeking to get on the property ladder at some stage, compared to 28 per cent of their female counterparts.

Post Office head of mortgages Mike Cook commented: "They must look carefully at the long term value of the deal they sign up for to make sure they don't get stung with any unexpected fees or rate hikes."

Rightmove recently revealed that property asking prices during the first half of June have risen by 0.6 per cent compared to May.
