Now is the time to buy in Scotland

There has never been a better time to enter the property market in Scotland, one expert has said in comments that may have implications for DIY house selling.

Dianne Paterson, property partner at Russel + Aitken, highlighted that for first-time buyers in particular, there are a number of incentives available to help them out.

"In addition, property is more affordable and mortgages do exist for those who are able to put down at least a ten per cent deposit," she explained.

The expert noted that first-time buyers are crucial to the property market, so efforts are being made to ensure they are still able to access good quality housing.

It was recently reported by the Scottish government that there was a one per cent fall in Affordable Housing Investment Programme completions in the first quarter of 2011 compared with the same quarter last year.
