Govt will abolish Hips, says expert

Both parties in government will agree to scrap home information packs (Hips), one property expert has claimed.
Selwyn Lim, director of Mouseprice.com, said that because the Conseravtives and Liberal Democrats pledged to scrap the scheme in their manifestoes, this is definitely something that they will agree on.
"Regardless of who becomes the new housing minister, I think it is quite clear that the Hips legislation is going to be repealed," he commented.
This could come as a welcome relief to those who are selling their own home
as Hips can cost around £300 and are an unwelcome additional cost.
In the Conservative manifesto, it said that Hips "have made a significant contribution to problems in our housing market".
Mr Lim added: "Hips decreased liquidity in the housing market because, whilst it was a small factor, it nevertheless was a factor in putting some people off putting their properties on the market."
