Experts offer house selling tips
by Christopher Evans
Property experts have offered a number of tips to homeowners looking to sell their property quickly and at the right price.
In an article for the Times
newspaper, Douglas Sleaper of Townends estate agents said sellers should not be lured into thinking they can demand a high price for their home.
He pointed out that a good-value price tag often encourages a bidding war between potential buyers, which could push the price higher.
"Ask every estate agent who values your home to give you evidence that supports the valuation," Mr Sleaper advised.
Meanwhile, Mark Jamieson from property consultants Strutt and Parker told sellers to advertise their property outside of the local area, as this will attract buyers moving into town from other parts of the country.
And when it comes to presentation, James Hyman of Cluttons estate agents said making a property look good is key.
"Re-grout bathroom tiles, realign kitchen cupboards, de-scuff floors and clean carpets," he recommended.
