Selling your own home can be difficult, but those wishing to do so may be interested to learn that now could be the ideal time to make alterations which can increase property value.
According to theHousePlanner, architects and builders are likely to price alteration or refurbishment jobs "more keenly" due to the current economic downturn in the UK.
This could be to the advantage of anyone considering DIY house selling as it may not cost them as much to increase the value of their property by doing a little building work.
Chris Martin, an architect at theHousePlanner, also said that "a fall in orders often means you can get your work done more quickly".
According to English Heritage, some buildings that cannot be altered are those listed for their architectural design, craftsmanship or decoration.
There are currently around 370,000 listed buildings in the UK.
