Landlords drawing up tenancy agreements may be interested to hear the opinion of one expert regarding the new tenancy deposit scheme.
According to Tom Entwistle, editor of Landlordzone.co.uk, it is "early days yet" and it may take time to discover whether or not the system will prove to be a success when it comes to fairly dealing with deposits.
"There is a question mark hanging over it: will the adjudicators of the scheme be fair to both parties?" Mr Entwistle said.
He also highlighted that because the tenancies involved are only just coming to an end it is not yet clear how easy it will be to get deposits back if there are any problems for tenants.
One way in which landlords could avoid the problem of having a dispute over deposits is to draw up a property inventory so they have a record of the condition of items in the house.
