Activity seen in buy-to-let market

Investors in the buy-to-let sector are becoming more active, it has been claimed.

Malcolm Harris, a property expert, said that the market has become livelier for a number of different reasons.

One of the main factors is that property investors take a long-term view of their investments and figures are showing that the private rented sector will be in a good position in the future.

"In another five or ten years, everything points to the number of tenants continuing to increase," Mr Harris explained.

"The nub of what makes investment in rental property interesting is, is there a market out there? The answer to that is yes, there very much is."

A recent report from LSL Property Services revealed that confidence in the buy-to-let sector has been robust in the past three months.

One in three landlords is planning to expand their property portfolio in the coming year, the study also found.
