Inflation figures pressure struggling families

Pressure on household finances is growing, as the latest figures show that inflation stood at four per cent last month.

This may create a headache for landlords as fewer tenants become able to meet the terms of their tenancy agreements and stack up a pile of rent arrears.

Director of consumer policy at Ann Robinson commented: "These figures could be a cruel and costly combination for households, many of whom are already struggling to stay afloat in these stormy economic times."

She emphasised that data is expected to show that wages have increased by just two per cent, showing that the cost of living is increasingly becoming disproportionate.

Ms Robinson indicated that for some people, racking up debt is likely to be the only way they can foot their monthly outgoings.

If you're a landlord who is facing an increasing pile of rent arrears, then landlords may have to set about evicting tenants using a Section 8 Notice.

David Lawrenson, private rented sector expert at, recently said that one of the main problems faced by landlords is so-called tenants from hell, which they expect they will not come across.
