Internet opens business start-up opportunities

The internet is providing people with many more opportunities to start up their own business, according to one expert.

Chris Wickson, co-founder of undergraduate recruitment website, said the web has helped to bring down some of the barriers to entrepreneurship.

For example, he pointed out that the costs involved with running an online business are lower than those associated with a bricks and mortar store or office.

His comments come after figures from the Association of Graduate Recruiters showed that the number of graduate job vacancies has fallen by almost seven per cent this year.

Mr Wickson said that the "buzz" around business start-ups, especially among those leaving university, is therefore growing.

And since students are "at the forefront of everything that is going on online" there is likely to be particular interest in internet-based companies.
