FSB calls for reductions to red tape
The government must take greater action to protect UK businesses from the burdens of red tape, one major organisation has said.
At present, many firms find themselves seeking business advice
for a range of problems that they face from day to day, noted the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB).
Although efforts are made to consult on changes, the group emphasised that what companies really need is greater simplification, not more legislation to contend with.
John Walker, national chairman of the FSB, said: "Only days after announcing the welcomed employment law
review, a raft of new employment burdens were announced.
"It is precisely these types of regulations that will hinder, rather than help, small firms."
Earlier this week, the government proposed a number of changes to parental leave, making it more flexible so both mothers and fathers can share the time off.
If the changes come into force, they will be implemented from 2015 onwards.
