Business advice needed on Green Deal finance

More business advice needs to be provided on how the government's Green Deal will be financed and promoted, the CBI has emphasised.

It suggested that the companies in charge of delivering the scheme are being left in the dark over how exactly it will be applied.

"The government needs to clarify how the Green Deal will be paid for in the early stages to give investors confidence, and make it simple and hassle-free for consumers," commented Dr Neil Bentley, CBI deputy director-general.

According to the CBI, a decision needs to be made by the spring on where exactly the default risk will lie and it must also accommodate the ability of small firms to become providers.

The private-rented sector is expected to be affected by the Green Deal, as properties will have to be kitted out with environmentally-friendly measures in order to meet certain standards.
