Employers 'can find highly-skilled workers'
by Rachel Crook
Business owners who are looking to recruit staff and write up new employment contracts
can be reassured that there is a large skills pool created by high levels of redundancy.
Adrian Marlowe, chairman of the Association of Recruitment Consultancies, said: "With the large number of redundancies last year there has to be a large number of people who are unemployed and possess skill sets."
He advised employers that the best way to seek potential candidates out of the unemployment pool, which now stands at 2.47 million people according to national statistics, is by using a recruitment consultancy.
"They are trained and have knowledge on how to find quality candidates, which will help to reduce the frustration for employers," he explained.
His comments could reassure employers after a report from the Confederation of British Industry found that 44 per cent of London businesses cannot find enough skilled staff.
This is up from 38 per cent in 2009, although it is below pre-recession levels.
